Mr. Elgin LaStrape

Mr. Elgin LaStrape resides in Houston, TX, but annually makes his mark in the Monroe community. Mr. LaStrape is married to a Monroe native, Nettie Whitty LaStrape. The couple assists each year with the Spring into Community Service Banquet that is sponsored by RCDA and the M. H. Carroll Scholarship Fund. Mr. LaStrape prepares and either delivers or sends to Monroe the meat that will be served during the banquet. Banquet attendance has increased annually, in part as a result of the delicious meat that is provided to attendees. The LaStrapes also have assisted with RCDA’s annual Juneteenth celebrations.
